what we're about

OUR MISSION

WHAT ABOUT A CLOTHING COMPANY THAT DOESN’T PRODUCE ANY CLOTHES?

Whenever Stuart was asked to start a new fashion brand he replied 'the world doesn't need a new clothing company'. And then he thought to himself - hold it...what about a clothing company that doesn't produce any clothes?

There’s a children’s story that you may remember called ‘The Magic Porridge Pot’ – it kept producing porridge until the whole village was drowned in porridge. The fashion industry is just the same. There are already far too many clothes in the world and yet each year another 100 billion clothes are produced. There are huge mountains of wasted clothing, millions of tonnes of clothes being put into landfill or burnt. And every time we make a new garment, the planet pays for it.

It’s a critical moment for our collective future – we should have done it years ago, but given we can’t turn back the clocks, now is the time to act.

We want to actively reduce the number of new clothes made, and reduce the environmental impact of any clothes that are made.

We want to do this by

  • Keeping clothes in circulation by reimagining vintage and second-hand clothing.
  • Turning “dead stock” fabric that would otherwise be disposed of into “living stock“
  • Choosing the most sustainable methods to make any new essential lines like underwear and T shirts

Stuart has long since believed that scarcity is the mother of creativity.  “Creativity to me has always been about doing more with what we have already. The world has scarce resources, yet the fashion industry acts as if there is an unlimited supply of material. It's a disaster for our planet.”Stuart has long since believed that scarcity is the mother of creativity.  “Creativity to me has always been about doing more with what we have already. We will do our best to create clothes that people love and want to keep.

RE-WIND, RE-SET, RE-PLAY

On this, our online shop, you’ll find a range of unique one-off pieces. All the vintage items on this site are carefully selected and reworked by Stuart Trevor himself. Many are vintage collectables from his personal collection, sourced from around the world over the last three decades; reworked, rebranded, cut up, distressed, reimagined and handcrafted with care - patched, printed, sprayed, washed and embroidered.

We've also introduced a range of essentials using sustainably sourced 100% GOTS certified organic cotton and recycled cotton yarn; it turns out most people don't want to wear pre-loved underwear, socks or even tee shirts & hoodies. No sweat!

When a new item of clothing is made, it uses scarce water, introduces toxic chemicals into the environment, depletes the soil and produces millions of tonnes of carbon. There are literally huge mountains of discarded clothing that end up being burnt, put into landfill or just left to rot. The equivalent of one garbage truck full is dumped every second. The irony is that many of these companies are not even profitable. So who's winning?

So let’s together heal the planet and have fun. Saving the world doesn’t have to be boring. Let’s rediscover the magic of fashion and only buy clothes that will last.

No more fast fashion. No more waste. We’re too young to die.

We are the Cats Who Care.
